👋 Hello Everyone
This release includes several incremental improvements. With the increased volume of customers following the big Chat with Knowledge Base launch, we’ve prioritized bug bashes, smoother workflows, and stronger customer enablement. We also spent time reviewing the roadmap and prioritizing upcoming features. The team is energized, excited, and committed to helping you consistently extract more value from your knowledge base.
What’s New
Overall Performance
Faster sync performance – Dramatically improved initial sync speed for large knowledge bases (approximately 6x faster).
Audio & Transcription Improvements
  • Spotify and Apple Podcasts integration fixed.
  • Multi-language bugs resolved – Fixed an issue where transcribed content would sometimes mix languages in both the Reader and Chat.
Chat with Knowledge Base
  • Improved UI – Multiple enhancements to make conversations more intuitive.
  • Smarter context retrieval – Significantly improved how we surface relevant information when asking questions about groups of cards or tags. This fixes the issue where answers previously favored just one or two cards.
  • Precise reference highlighting – Clicking on a reference in a chat answer now opens the referenced card and highlights the exact location of the information.
  • Personal notes integration – You can now reference your own notes directly within the chat interface.
  • Cancel chat streams – New ability to stop chat responses mid-stream if you need to make corrections.
Reader & Import Enhancements
  • Copy full text – New ability to copy the complete text content from the Reader.
  • Improved file handling – Fixed edge cases where markdown files with special characters in titles couldn’t be imported.
Bulk markdown import
  • You can now drag in multiple markdown files at once without needing to zip them first.
Search & Navigation
  • Enhanced search history – Redesigned to maintain all previous search states when navigating back.
New Tutorial Series
We’ve heard your feedback that our tutorials were too fast-paced and not detailed enough. We’re launching a new, more comprehensive tutorial series—the first one is now live - My Top 5 Daily Use Cases for Recall.
What We’re Working On
A Better Reading Experience
We’re developing a comprehensive update to transform the Reader into a full-featured read-it-later application, including highlights with comments.
A Better Mobile Experience
There’s a lot to be done to improve the mobile app, with the biggest pain point being consistent sharing to Recall. Upcoming improvements include:
  • Faster sharing with immediate save to Recall (without requiring content to load).
  • A cleaner UI with many small but impactful wins (e.g., PDF zoom, adjustable font size).
Bulk Tag Management
While there are many ways to add content to Recall, we need better ways to manage it once it’s there. The next step will be adding the ability to apply or remove tags from multiple cards simultaneously in the card list view.
Chat Improvements
Chat will continue to be a primary focus, with upcoming enhancements such as custom prompts and improved workflows to save chat content directly to a new notebook.
Hello! After the big release of
Chat with Knowledge Base and Advanced Search
, we’ve been heads-down bashing bugs for a smoother experience. We’ll continue to focus on small improvements and fixes before shifting our attention back to the bigger roadmap.
Here’s what we fixed:
Mobile Fixes:
  • Fixed the Back button on mobile.
UI improvements to Chat with Knowledge Base on mobile:
  • Automatically close the drawer when a user selects a chat history item or starts a new chat.
  • Automatically focus the cursor in the chat input when the user starts a new chat.
  • Fixed an issue where the chat input wouldn’t stick to the bottom of the screen when a chat response was streaming.
  • Fixed an issue where the same source chip was returned repeatedly after a response in Chat.
Extension & Migration Fixes:
  • Fixed an issue where multiple tab groups would open in your browser when migrating or doing a bulk import.
  • Fixed data migration issues for legacy Recall users.
  • Added Copy and Rate Chat features (still pending Chrome approval for the browser extension). @bou1958 FYI I know you were waiting for this.
What we’re working on:
  • Focusing the correct point in the reader/notebook when a reference is clicked in a chat response.
  • Adding the option to cancel or stop a chat response while it’s streaming.
  • Speeding up syncing between devices.
  • Improvements to bulk imports.
  • Ability to zoom in on PDFs added to Recall.
  • Copy button for Reader

The moment is finally here! We’ve just launched what we can confidently say is the biggest update to Recall yet- bringing far more utility and flexibility to your knowledge base.
We’re also live on Product Hunt today, if you have a moment, we’d so appreciate your support.

Chat with your knowledge base
Recall now acts as a curated chatbot - built from the trusted sources you choose. Ask anything across everything you’ve saved, and get answers in seconds. You can also add context to your chat:
  • Use @ followed by the name of a specific note to chat with that item.
  • Use @ followed by a folder or tag name to chat with everything in that group.
Advanced search (full-text + semantic)
Find exactly what you need, when you need it! You can easily switch between standard (full-text) search or AI-powered semantic search when you can’t remember what it was called.
Save full Wikipedia pages and chat with them
When expanding connections or adding new ones, we now grab entire Wikipedia pages and let you tap into their knowledge anytime, right inside Recall.
An upgrade to notes you create yourself
  • You can now chat with and summarize notes you create yourself
  • You can also generate connections by going to the connections tab on a note you create yourself.
A huge, huge, huge shoutout to the incredible, resilient, and passion-fueled Recall team who poured in countless all-nighters to get us here. And another huge thank you to our beta testers — they drove the incremental improvements you see live today.
Thank you so much for being part of this journey. While we still have a long way to go and so much more to give, today marks a huge step forward for Recall — and, if we dare say, for knowledge management as a whole.
This week, we made progress on two of our biggest upcoming features: improved search and chat with your full knowledge base. These will roll out gradually over the next 1-2 weeks.

We also kicked off development of a markdown import feature, making it easier to migrate notes from tools like Notion and Obsidian.
What’s New
Bulk Markdown Import (Part 1)
You can now import up to 10,000 markdown files at once—perfect for Obsidian vaults or Notion exports. This is our third most requested feature on Canny with 195 upvotes.
markdown
A few things to note:
  • Supports Obsidian vaults and Notion
    .md
    exports.
  • Uses your existing tags (no AI-generated tags—yet). You will see a markdown and date tag added as well - this was added so that you can easily find your markdown imports and take bulk actions (for now, that is just to bulk delete).
  • Chatting with or summarizing these notes will launch next week as part of the chat with knowledge base launch.
ChatGPT Conversation URL Support
You can now save ChatGPT conversations via public share URLs (browser extension only for now). Do note that the full reader is not stored but you can summarize and chat with the content.
Bug Fixes
  • Fixed the iOS share sheet bug where Recall wasn't appearing in certain apps.
  • Resolved issues with online PDFs on sites like arXiv.org
  • Fixed problems with local PDF files opened in-browser. Note: You’ll need to enable “Allow access to file URLs” in your browser’s extension settings.
  • Eliminated duplicate images showing in the reader on some webpages
Improvements
  • Upgraded our proxy infrastructure to make saving content across the app more reliable.
  • Implemented smarter caching for public pages — if someone’s saved it before, it will load faster for you
In Progress
We’re deep in development on Advanced Search and Chat with Your Knowledge Base. Beta testing is underway, and we're now refining the chat model and working to ensure a smooth migration to the new app.
We're continuing to expand the types of content Recall supports — while actively testing some big new features: chat, search, and bulk import of personal markdown.

Also released this week:
  • Pocket Import Improvements:
You can now import up to 1,000 Pocket saves at a time, making migration smoother. If you have more than 1,000, simply re-upload the same .zip file — Recall will automatically deduplicate previously uploaded items and import the remaining ones. Imports are processed by recency, so the most recent Pocket Saves are imported first.
  • Mobile Link Fix:
Fixed a bug where source links wouldn’t open properly on mobile (no back button). Links now open reliably in your native mobile browser.
  • Video Transcript Enhancements:
Improved how we generate transcripts for videos that don’t come with one.
What’s Coming Next:

  • Bulk Markdown Import:
