This week, we focused primarily on our larger initiatives—improving search and enabling chat with your knowledge base. However, we still managed to ship the following updates:
Improvements:
- Support for YouTube Videos with No Transcripts:We now generate our own transcripts for YouTube videos that don’t already have them. If a video lacks a transcript, you’ll see a message indicating that we're generating one. It may take a bit longer than usual to receive your summary.
- 1-Click Share:It’s now easier to share cards with others (even if they don’t have an account). Simply click the link icon in the top right corner of the card. When you share the link, others can view the content—no sign-up required.
- Improved Code Block Support:Code blocks now feature better formatting and syntax highlighting within the editor.
- Table Pasting via Markdown:You can now paste Markdown that contains tables directly into the Notebook, and it will render correctly.
- Improved Copy-Paste:The Copy button in the Notebook now copies content in multiple MIME types (not just Markdown), making it compatible with a wider range of editors.
- Table & Code Block Support Within Reader:Content that includes tables and code blocks is now seamlessly stored and displayed within Recall.
Bug Fixes:
- Fixed a scrolling issue in the Reader that occurred when typing in the Notebook while in split-screen view.
- Resolved a bug with book importing where the number of imports did not update correctly.
Coming Soon:
- Editable Notebook in Firefox Extension
- Podcast Support: Apple and Spotify podcast support is on the way.
- Image-Only PDFs: We’re adding OCR to handle PDFs that contain only images.
Bigger Features in Progress:
- Improved Search: Faster and more intuitive search experience.
- Chat with Your Knowledge Base: Interact directly with your saved content.

Hello everyone!
We just released a fresh update with a mix of improvements and bug fixes. Here’s what’s new:
Reader
- Reader now includes all medium to large images from source content — making things much more visual.
- Fixed an issue where the Reader didn’t work properly on pages with special non-Latin characters.
- Augmented browsing no longer affects YouTube video titles.
Tags, Cards & Entity Search
- You can now resize the left side menu — great for viewing long tag or card names.
- Fixed bugs around entity extraction and tag generation.
- Preview images are now showing again in entity search.
Quiz question Improvements
- Better question generation for quizzes — especially for longer content. We switched to a reasoning model, so it might take a bit longer, but the questions are much higher quality. We're working on speeding this up next.
Text Editor
- Big infrastructure update under the hood! This sets the stage for upcoming features like tables, better code blocks, and support for formulas.
Smaller UI Tweaks
- Buttons are now more consistent throughout the app.
- Improved popup notifications.
- Moved the split screen button in the card view to make it easier to find.
- Updated entity reference link colour to better match our branding.
- Tabs in the extension are now ordered to match the web app.

.Hello everyone!
Over the past few weeks, we've been busy squashing bugs that popped up after our latest release. Here’s an update on the key fixes with many more quick wins coming soon.
Augmented Browsing:
- Ensured that highlights no longer overlay other elements while browsing.
Content:
- Improved tag generation — you should notice more relevant tags now.
- Fixed a bug where sharing cards with users who don’t have a Recall account didn’t work.
- Added an empty line after images and AI actions to make it easier to focus the cursor.
User Experience:
- Fixed layout issues for users on smaller tablets.
- Improved error messaging when a card cannot be created.
- Made small improvements to the onboarding steps.
We're thrilled to introduce major improvements to Recall—designed to bring even more utility to your knowledge base. To help existing users get oriented with the changes, we've created a dedicated tutorial.
Augmented Browsing
Enhance your learning and research by resurfacing related content from your knowledge base as you browse. Key features include:
- Local-First & Private:Your knowledge stays on your device, ensuring privacy and security. Recall doesn't send any data to the cloud unless you specifically save it.
- Real-Time Connections to Past Content:As you browse, Recall instantly highlights keywords that are related to saved content, helping you connect new insights with what you already know.
- Precise Keyword Placement:Identifies the exact place in past content where those keywords were mentioned.
- Recall Widget:Displays the number of connections on a given page. Use the arrows to navigate through your connections or as a shortcut to create a specific summary.
📌 Note: This is off by default; you can enable it in your settings
Chat with your Content
Save time and get straight to the point. Ask questions and extract insights directly from your saved pages. When chatting with content, it's important to remember that you are interacting only with the specific content source – not the entire internet. This ensures responses are highly relevant and specific to the content you’ve stored.
Note: We will soon launch a Chat with Your Entire Knowledge Base feature – stay tuned!
Recall Reader: Save the Full Content
The Recall Reader is designed to store a copy of the original content within Recall. This feature allows you to use Recall as a reliable read-it-later app, ensuring that your content is always available when you need it. It also provides the foundation for our interactive chat capabilities, enabling you to engage with your content without losing any detail.
A few things to note:
- The Reader is read-only; use the Notebook tab to add your personal notes and annotations.
- Auto format the reader by clicking the 🪄 (wand) symbol on your Recall card. This is available for all content except YouTube videos and PDFs.
- Expand & Collapse the reader by clicking the icon in the bottom right of your Recall card.
UI / UX Refresh
We have improved the user flow and layout of the app, some core changes include:
- A side by side view of the Reader and your Notebook
- Merging detailed and concise summaries into 1 card - this is all in the Notebook tab where everything is fully editable.
Increased Language Support
Recall now supports.....
Happy New Year, Everyone! As we welcome 2025, we’re continuing to work on some foundational updates to ensure a stable and scalable experience for storing full content, chat, and using the Recall Augmented Browser. While those changes are in progress, we’re excited to share a new enhancement designed to make adding content to Recall even smoother.
Introducing the Improved +New Button
- The +New Button has been consolidated to provide a much cleaner way to upload content directly within the app.
- With just one click, you can now access a view of all available actions for adding content to Recall.

While we still recommend the **Recall Browser Extension** as the most efficient way to add content into Recall, we hope this in-app update offers a smoother and more user-friendly experience.
Thank you for your continued support—here’s to a productive and exciting year ahead!
Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! 🦃🍂
While we’re heads down preparing for a big release, we’re excited to announce that
Recall Review Reminders
are now live! These reminders are on by default,
but you can easily manage and turn them on or off in your settings.
How the Recall Review Works

- In the Cards & Questions Section of the Recall Review.
Managing Questions
- When managing your questions, you can:
- Generate more AI-powered questions.
- Add manual questions and answers.
- Delete questions easily.
💡 Pro Tip: You can create questions for any card, including ones you’ve generated yourself. This makes it perfect for quizzing yourself on study notes, journals, or any content you want to revisit.
Improvements Coming Soon
We’re working on further enhancements to make Recall Review even better:
- Manage questions directly during a quiz (e.g., delete or edit on the fly).
- Increase quiz difficulty for a greater challenge.
- Shuffle quiz order for variety.
- Review cards by category for targeted learning.
Stay tuned for more updates, and as always, we’d love to hear your feedback!
