Hello everyone, excited to let you know that we now support OCR for PDFs. If you've had PDFs that you've tried to upload to Recall in the past that previously didn't work, it's likely because it didn't have selectable text. We now have OCR processing - Optical Character Recognition that converts images of text, into readable searchable text.
What we support now:
- scanned-in documents like books, articles, etc.
- computer-generated text
Still to come:
- handwritten notes
- pictures of text (because they have blur, skewness, etc. that we don't handle)

Upload Images and have Recall understand the text in images with OCR
Sankari Nair
This feature request will be an extension of what is now possible with OCR, so that you can upload images and Recall can read the text in these images. The moment we only support OCR for scanned scanned PDFs and PDFs without selectable text.

To facilitate the import of content not easily added via current means, enable content additions via photos and screenshots and extract text content from those images.

Include key images, such as graphs, diagrams, etc. This would help immensely when looking at summaries of research papers or other sorts of documents that use images to communicate ideas that are complex to represent in text.

Whenever I post images with text. It is unable to read the text . This feature is available in secondMe app. It will very useful if we get this feature in recall mobile app

OCR is on the roadmap for early next year. Super excited about this one. I think it will open up a lot more use cases for Recall.

I keep watching this app. The lack of OCR prevents me from actually using it becond a trial. But it is an incredible app for collating, revising and linking knowledge. Unfortunately, 95% of all my notes are handwritten on paper and digitised into PDF. I cannot upload any of them until it allows image based pdfs to be uploaded.

Yes. It's the only reason I'm not using recall right now
