Introduce a user-selectable “widescreen” layout or a responsive max-width Notebook setting to eliminate wasted screen space and improve usability on modern monitors. The narrow-only default is unnecessarily restrictive for a broad segment of advanced users.
Problem:
The current "Notebook" interface is locked to a narrow fixed width. On widescreen monitors, a substantial amount of horizontal screen real estate remains unused, forcing unnecessary scrolling and reducing the workspace available for content creation and review. This is especially limiting for users working with large datasets, embedded media, or side-by-side comparisons.
Requested Feature:
Add an option that allows users to set the "Notebook" view to "widescreen" mode, expanding the notebook’s content area to utilise the maximum width of the user’s monitor. Ideally, this should be implemented as either a toggleable “Widescreen/Narrow” setting or a responsive layout that automatically adapts to the available screen width.
Benefits:
Makes better use of widescreen monitors and large displays
Reduces wasted on-screen space and minimises vertical scrolling
Improves workflow for tasks involving multiple columns, wide tables, large images, or side-by-side references
Increases user flexibility, aligning with modern UI/UX standards
